Re: 2018 World Bowling Coach Conference videos
Man, too bad I have to leave right now. I'll have to wait to access the gold mine.

Re: Acceptable # of balls for THS
I just had another thought. First of all, a disclaimer; I don't consider myself a great bowler at all. This summer I bowled in a league that used the Kegel Challenge Patterns. One week we used the PWBA Greater Harrisburg Open shot, and the last week, (which I missed thankfully!) this year's USBC Mas...

Re: Acceptable # of balls for THS
If you need more than 3 balls on a house shot, including plastic, you need to work on your versatility. For what it's worth. Several years ago when I was looking for Jim Tomek online to get some new equipment (found out at that time he was not drilling balls anymore), I found an online article from...

Drilling Suggestions
I'd like some drilling suggestions for winter league this year. Although I'd love to buy new equipment, my finances just don't allow it, so I'll be using the only balls I have, which are a Hyper-Cell, a Rumble and a Pitch Blue. Yea, they're ancient! The first thing I'm going to do is get remeasured,...

Re: Cover dominant symmetricals, no thumb and balance hole b
I’ve had a question for some time now. Has anyone who work with PBA pros who don’t use their thumb had the conversation about what they plan to drill when the no balance hole rule comes into effect? Take for example Tom Daugherty, he uses his Black Hammers a lot, with such a weak core and an early ...

Re: Video: "How NOT to "Hit up" on the Ball and Roll Better?
Hitting up on the ball is even worse when bowling on non-house shots. My summer league used the Kegel Challenge shots, and I found if I hit up on it the least little bit, it would hook early for me. Shots that felt like they "fell off my hand" had much more length and a much better back en...

New Cleaner Rule
First of all, if this has been discussed already, sorry; I haven't been on the site as much recently.
Why on earth has the USBC outlawed all cleaners during competition, even the ones that do not change the ball surface whatsoever?? It makes no sense to me at all.
Please, enlighten me.

Pattern Question
I thought I'd ask here first before actually practicing on it. Tonight we bowled the Kegel Route 66 pattern. I didn't do too bad overall (623) despite a lousy game two (bad shot-making). My question is, next time we bowl, we'll be on the Statue of Liberty pattern. Can someone who's bowled on both gi...

Re: Swing Direction
Thanks Jim. I plan on practicing today, so I'll do both the foul line drill and the swing and slide. It will be interesting to see the results. I think I'll also take my camera along. I do suspect that I do have a right to left ball path. If so, video will confirm this. I'll post my results later.

Re: Swing Direction
Hi pjape. Are you bowling with right or left hand? Going out on a limb here ... Shooting in the dark here, one possible suspect, use of opposite arm. Pictures would help you and us. Read Jim Merrell's reply in this topic post #7 http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12556" oncl...

Swing Direction
I finally got around to working on my footwork this afternoon. I put some painters tape on the approach, and worked without the ball at first and looking down at my feet. The biggest issue I have is sliding too far to the left. When I slide on the correct board, it feels very weird. Repetition will ...

Re: Thumb Swelling Tricks?
One thing I found that helps me immensely is using thumb tape on my thumb. What I do differently is I make sure the tape covers the sides of my thumb. What I found is without side coverage, my thumb swells and then I start hanging. Since I started doing this, my thumb rarely changes while bowling, a...

Re: knee bend
Just watch the PBA50 players, and you'll see a lot of hall of famers who don't have nearly the knee bend they did when they were younger. One Xtra Frame show I watched on Youtube, Pederson said there's no way he can bend his knee like he did when he was younger. Age happens! One other bowler that co...

Re: No more motion hole
That is a bummer. Most of my bowling balls have balance holes in them. Even the 30 year old ones I have. I guess I will not be joining any USBC leagues any time soon. I wonder if this, and future rule changes might come back to bite the USBC if more and more leagues decide to drop their sanction. A...

Re: Consistancy Doesn’t Breed Repeatability?
My gut reaction is your shot-making didn't get worse; you didn't adjust enough to the changing conditions. A few weeks ago in league, the anchor on the other team rolled back to back 250 games, and then shot a buck-seventy something in game three. He didn't move far enough left IMHO. He had two big ...

Pjape, thanks for sharing your experience and bowling data. Your decision to improve your fitness is a wise one which should improve your quality of life. Overweight is a relative term, there are folks that bowl well and make you look slim. I encourage you to see a physical trainer for a customized...

Kegel Road Show - York PA
I attended this session yesterday, and it was incredibly informative, albeit a bit confusing. More on that later. I was very surprised that my stats with Specto were as good as they were. In fact, Del glanced at my stats and said "that's actually pretty good." Considering some of the flaws...

Re: That elusive first 300
For me, it's that elusive 2nd 300. The first sanctioned 300 I had was in December of 2004, and I'm still waiting for my second one. I'm actually going to be able to practice this summer (3 free games a day), so who knows.

Re: Watching bowling videos and then messing up
In the world of golf, which is not what we talk about here, but still..........there is a plethora of information out there about the right form, the right swing, the right arc, etc.. That’s also true in the world of bowling, as you know. The thing that I have found the most useful in any sport, is...
