Re: two handed bowling
I've got a more specific question regarding this subject: Is it necessary to bend the bowling arm in the backswing? Every analysis obviously points to this, since belmo and osku both do it, but I found my accuracy improved a lot when not bending it. The problem I see here is speed creation, but sinc...

Good comparison videos
Hello Coaches, I was wondering if you knew a good site, from where to get videos some bowling pros (and good amateurs). Specifically videos that are shot from a good angle (Side and back. Front most welcome). The telecasts lack a good analysis angle most of the time. The best video I found on youtub...

Re: Been struggling lately and need some advice.
Hey TylerJlew, while you wait you should shoot another video. This one does not meet many of the requirements for a good analysis (Which were mentioned in the second post): http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1163" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Three things...

Re: Too much spine tilt at address??
You should really let Jim take a look at this and use the guidelines for video capturing. It's just really hard to see what you are doing throughout your approach. To me it looks like you don't have a (side-)tilt problem, but rather that your lower body is set up to bowl on the right lane. At adress...

Re: Working the ball from the inside.....fail
The problem with the release (and bowling in itself) is, that it is often directly influenced by your approach. As Megamav stated it could be the swing slot. It could also be your forward tilt or side lean, or many other factors. The flat spot usually is a big factor in release consistency. Without ...

Re: two handed converts?
There is a failure right here. With no chance for any sort of coaching at some point I just could not evolve further. The main problem was getting the speed. It was all way too slow. So at some point I gave up and went back to one handed bowling which, interestingly enough, somewhat profited from my...

Re: Preview: Two new books by Susie Minshew
Thanks for posting this.
The coaching book looks very interesting.
Sadly I'm not able to find it in ebook format, and I am not willing to pay more for the shipping then for the book itself.
So if anyone stumbles upon an ebook of this, please give me a hint.

Re: Mental game failure
Thanks Mav I was sharing because the mental game is the most overlooked. I know that mentally I was in the wrong frame of mind and the result was not the best shot I could make. Sometimes when we talk mental game it becomes all abstract, but this was an opportunity to offer a more concrete mental g...

Re: recommended video camera?
I can not speak from an instructors point of view, but for my self analysis and that of a buddy of mine, I recently bought the "Casio Exilim EX-ZR300 16.1 MP" and a cheap tripod. Together it went for 150€ (new!) I only bought it for its videos and boy did it deliver. Great quality slow mot...

Real great stuff.
I love the fact that "cause and effect" are very clearly stated.
This will surely help me a lot.

Re: video recorder time
I sure do it too. In fact just this weekend with my new camera (capable of doing slow motion videos) on a tripod. Approach in the back view and release even more slowed down. Sadly there was no space for a side view, but my mistakes wont run away. I do it regularly, because of the huge discrepancies...

Re: Hi Speed Cam! :D Release!
Nice video and a release I somehow also have to come closer to :) At what frame rate did you record this? (I think the JVC has several option?) I really like the quality, but I'd rather see the whole approach. That, of course, is quite difficult to do with the limited budget I'm operating on. The on...

Please, don't silly. This is a very serious issue. It sure is for some. I really dont understand why, but I cant help to think "green eyed monster" :D Well anyhow: You bring up the effect of the two handed style on oil patterns. I refer you to Mr. Robert Smith and other high rev players. ...

Re: PGA did it, now it's Bowlings turn
So far in this thread I've read suggestions that the THS makes the game too easy for the "stomp and spray" guys, and too easy for the guys will less than "some hand". I don't know man... I think to an extent it's "grass is greener" and if there is a GOOD thing about th...

Re: Follow Thru Left Of The Face?
Haha,, i believe thats actually the problem. I could never tell, but others that i trust have told me that im almost actually decelerating at the release. Which to me sounds very much impossible to do, due to gravity being a constant. But im sure what they mean is that im not accelerating through t...

Re: Follow Thru Left Of The Face?
Well, without a video all of the following are shots into the dark, but non the less here I go :) : If amateurs like me follow through to the left it's usually a sign of a pulled shot that will go inside of the intended target. What reasons might this have? Chicken winging comes to mind. Meaning tha...

Re: Thumb wrapping? a good thing?
I tried many tapes, none of which would hold on my thumb. Wrapping it around my thumb only made this worse, since it was easier to roll the tape off of my thumb. But since I really needed the tape to have a consistent release (Sweating made it VERY hard for me to find a good fit) I searched the web ...

Re: THS Bordering on Absurd
The THS bothers me in a weird way. I don't mind the high scores themselves, but rather that I can not improve as much practicing on it as I might on a sport shot. I'm just not good enough to see the smaller differences in my game. On the other hand it really sucks watching some bowlers with horrible...

Re: Follow Thru Left Of The Face?
I think it all comes down to: Keeping the elbow close to the body When you watch these pro bowlers from the front you can see that they only turn their wrist and thus have the elbow directly behind or even on the left side of the ball for right handers. This does not change during the release. This ...
