Re: Layout advice

Yes, the Sport layouts are for Asyms. Looks like there were 9 different releases of the Heat. http://www.trackbowling.com/site_search.html?query=heat http://www.trackbowling.com/products/retired-balls/dry-heat This Purple one? The new one is Purple too, they are calling it Violet. Medium differentia...

Re: I want a pin down ball. Best ball?

I would use an Asymmetric ball for your Pin down ideas.
This is because you can now control your drilling angle and get the core starting early enough to get the ball to actually roll.

Re: Layout advice

70-5.5-60.PNG I would adjust this one to Pin in the Middle finger. I was involved in the testing of the program so I got lucky. It turned in to a pay for app and I am not a facebook user. I never got a look at the final product. It is a powerful tool with the ability to use a data base and keep the...

Re: Layout advice

Well I do not use finger inserts, but I do use a thumb slug, I like the fact I can adjust the hole size with tape and keep a consistent feel. I haven’t used grips in years. What is your ring finger size? 5/8" gives the 1" separation with the suggested layout 75-3.75-35 Maybe someday Brunswick will ...

Re: Layout advice

75x3.5x35 The Pin will be 25/32" from the ring finger. If you are worried about warranty It will have to be adjusted. Taking the VAL Angle to 30* will get it 1" away. Or shortening the Pin to PAP to 3-3/16" and leaving the 35* VAL will do it also. Or 3-1/4" Pin to PAP and 34* VAL Adjusting to Pin in...

Re: Layout advice

Ok so here are my ideas that I had in my head for my arsenal. The way I like to set up my arsenal is in this manner. Heavy oil control ball which will be the Storm Proton Physix. Heavy oil angular ball which will be the Radical Trailblazer. Medium oil control which is the Storm !Q Nano Pearl that I...

Re: Layout advice

Not a fan of the short pin layouts on Symmetrical equipment. They loose tilt to quickly and don't carry well in my experience with them. I found they need to be played very straight, with speed and low rotation for best results. I am limited for time right now. I will get back to to your layouts in ...

Would you use the totally strong layout for a purple hammer, or maybe a pitch black urethane?
Yes, and I would drill the thumb hole 4-1/2" deep as well. Trying to get as much flare as possible out of their weak cores.

Re: Layout advice

Ok my new PAP is 4 5/8 over and 1/4 up and my tilt is 15 degrees. I’m pretty satisfied with the pitch change and I’m not going to mess with anything for a few years unless I get hurt or something. Add your Tilt and Rotation numbers in your profile so we have easy reference when discussing layouts. ...

Re: Layout advice

I haven’t actually gotten back to the pro shop yet to remeasure my PAP, but from looking at the flare rings on the Nuclear Cell when wiping it down between shots, the rings are noticeably closer to the thumb, and looks more like what my PAP was previously which was something like 4 1/2 inches by 1/...

Re: Layout advice

With your new release specs this is an optimal layout for you. Utilize the basic principles of the Dual Angles and adjust +/- 20^ to one or the other angles. To adjust skid length use the Drilling Angle. +10 for Max skid and -20* to get the core revving early. Adjust the hook length with the VAL ang...

I like the Nuclear Cell for your low flare set up. 16# specs look really good for what you are after.

Re: Layout advice

If your dealing with a lot of friction it it could give you a go to ball. As for the Proton PhysiX, You are right in the fact it is a Strong ball. 2000 is also pretty aggressive out of the box. You will probably want to smooth it up a little play it more matte than dull. It is also a High differenti...

Re: Layout advice

The Short Pin Asym will be an interesting layout for you. By this I mean with 20* of Tilt your Sweetspot is a little bit in the opposite direction favoring longer Pin to PAPs for Asymmetrical equipment. Not that it can't be utilized by someone with higher Tilt. Chances are that you will favor a more...

Ok so is my benchmark layout for symmetrical going into to be a pin up layout I’m thinking? My span is 4-1/2 inches cut to cut and I use a thumb slug
Speaking very generally yes.
Pay attention to Pin to PAP distance to control the amount of flare.

Re: Layout advice

Yes that's correct. It really limits what you can do with Layouts on Symmetrical equipment. The Drilling angle can no longer be manipulated. It is based on where the thumbhole is in relation to your particular PAP. If you want to know what the drilling angle actually is, measure it to your Thumbhole...
