Re: Rule 18 – There's a temporary exception for Alcohol!

Note: USBC Rule 18 – Bowling Ball - Altering Surface eliminated the use of ALL cleaning products during competition not #14. USBC Rule #14 is the Emergency Authorization rule: Rule 14 - Emergency Authorization USBC may authorize temporary modifications to the General Playing Rules, Award, League an...

Re: What is BowlingChat worth to you?

This forum is unique. The only reason I came is that I found out Mo was here and joined soon after he arrived. I stayed even after he left because I liked the format and the knowledge shared here. This is the only forum that keeps my attention. Mostly I read, sometimes participate. If it were to cha...

Re: Rule 18 – There's a temporary exception for Alcohol!

This exception was due to Covid-19. New rule #14 eliminated the use of ALL cleaning products during competition and was established prior to Covid. Because of Covid, USBC allowed the use of alcohol due to it's sanitation aspect. This was one way to get bowling centers back open.

Re: Higher VAL vs. early hook?

I don't think a Larger VAL Angle by itself is going to be what you are looking for. If you are convinced a layout will help than I would suggest an Asymmetrical low flare. The problem being the lane topography is taking over once the fresh oil is depleted. The friction and gravitational effects are...

You guys need to review the "seminar" video..... Mo says IT IS LEGAL TO DROP DOWN A SIZE SMALER THAN THE INSERT or INTERCHANGEABLE THUMB AND DRILL THE THUMB HOLE DEEPER.......starts at 1:00:19. All that aside, I haven't seen a thumbhole yet that doesn't extend below an insert when one is u...

Re: Effective Ball Motion Without a Hole! - Full Seminar

I can answer a couple of these: Mo has stopped referring to total sums for a while now. He's been using recommendations on surface changes to control where the ball starts hooking and the layout to determine the shape the ball will make once it starts. Something to take note of the dual angle metho...

Re: Let's talk surface

Are other bowlers having trouble carrying? If so maybe the racks are off enough to contribute to the corner pin problem. I remember a 3 game title match between Ryan Ciminelli and Norm Duke in which Ryan just got 7 pined to death. He pounded the pocket but the racks were bad enough for the left sid...

Re: Let's talk surface

KYBOB, do you think that lowering your ball speed a bit might help your carry? I ask this based on your posted speed using the chart at http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index.php?title=File:BallSpeedvsRevRate.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Do you take note of where the...

Re: Bad luck before even going back bowling in league

See a chiropractor for your back. Thumb sticking: could be diet. Maybe ate something salty before you went bowling and you were swollen a little . OR coulda been overturning the ball. Also, "Real Bowlers Tape" leaves a lot less residue than any tape I've used and what's is left cleans out ...

Re: Let's talk surface

Some of the best advice I ever got came from Ron Mohr. He said that when the lanes get over/under, you have to decide whether to play in the oil or play in the dry. When you try to play the oil line when the lanes are over/under, you will lose 20 pins to the field each game. It works! Yep, around h...

Re: Let's talk surface

MONGO: Same old stuff tonight. Hitting pocket, not much carry. Didn't even count the numerous single pin leaves tonight. Gonna have to find a lower grit surface with the right ball, the high grits do nothing but push the oil around and down. May even have to change delivery and hand position. Have y...

MONGO: Well Wed nite has come and gone. Same old stuff, over/under BUT carry seemed a tad better. Started w/ the Dragon at 4000, seemed to be too much ball. Switched back and forth between the Rack Attack Pearl and the Cyclops (both shined up either with Royal Compound or Royal Shine. Too lazy to ge...

Re: Let's talk surface

I need more surface at this place, plain and simple. So much oil in the middle, I'm forced to play right on top of the oil line. When transition hits, I have nowhere to go. A little more teeth lets me get in and move around. Again...I've been there done that. Experienced the same thing on the fresh...

Re: Let's talk surface

........"I think it's time to break out the 1000... or more"... Good a place to start as any. Unfortunately I've been there done that. Nothing was ever consistent. As I've stated to you before, the fresh is a "killer" for me (and I suspect pretty much for you too). Let the lanes ...

Re: Leagues with underage bowlers now required Safesport

Regarding the original post, I have to question the information as being correct. First, I have not seen any information about this other than here. If this information is correct why hasn't USBC launched a public campaign about this. We all know about the new ball specs and no use of cleaners, othe...

UPDATE......lingering injury has had me sidelined for the past 2 weeks or so. Maybe get to bowl again in the next week or so BUT will not be at 100%. Most likely gonna have to change delivery temporarily just to be able to bowl.....we'll see.
