Re: Why I haven't been around much lately.

Thanks for the positive words everyone. It was a little surprising and rather hectic for the first couple of weeks, but things have settled down a bit. Gary, you are right on...I wasn't planning on closing my shop but had been wanting to scale back as I have a full time job and 3 part time jobs. Bes...

Why I haven't been around much lately.

I'm sure you all have noticed that I haven't been around much lately. I finally have a day off so thought I would let you know how my year has been. Just to set the stage, on January 1st at about 5am my car was broken into, doing over $2000 in damage to steal my $400 stereo. Then the shop that was d...

Re: Mo & Friends - Some people posting HookR doesn't hook

I agree that this has not been the most cordial post and I tried to word my post so as not to be seen as rude, challenging, or offensive. I tried to keep it short and simple, perhaps too much so. But to say EVERYONE is to blame, frankly, is offensive and wrong. Some of us were trying to help without...

Re: Mo & Friends - Some people posting HookR doesn't hook

Post your video online so that a few of us can look at it and take measurements, hopefully that way we can come to a consensus as to your specs.

Re: Drilling Effect

As Nsane said your PAP numbers alone don't really tell us anything about how you bowl. Video of you bowling with your PAP marked will help us measure your tilt and rotation, so it is still an important part of the equation. Also, your PAP is important to your driller as it will be the starting point...

Re: Drilling Effect

Without knowing your specs it is impossible to say what the ball will do you for you. We need to know your: rev rate ball speed (15.5, I'm guessing that is what it shows on the monitor?) axis tilt axis rotation dual angle layout currently on the ball (if you give us your PAP we can probably guesstim...

Re: ijohn83 would love his 1st MoRich ball ASAP

To me, + or - 1/2" on a PAP is quite a bit off. The mark doesn't have to be absolutely perfect, but as close as possible will give the best measurements. It looks like it is not too far off in the 2nd shot, it's mostly just the first shot that you tugged where it is way off. Also, from the heig...

Re: Bowling.com blog post - how does this make you feel?

You are right that they only mention "sporting goods stores" and don't specifically say pro shops. But how many people will really make that distinction when reading the article? I have had many people refer to my shop as a sporting goods store. They also say multiple times that you should...

Re: Bowling.com blog post - how does this make you feel?

Sporting good stores are still fun to visit since you can actually hold the ball and see it before you buy, but you’re getting ripped off if your not doing all your bowling shopping online. This line stood out to me above all else, and I believe it is blatantly untrue. I have lowered my prices on m...

Bowling.com blog post - how does this make you feel?

Did anyone else see this? http://blog.bowling.com/bowlingball/find-a-bowlingball-online-for-a-fraction-of-the-price-of-a-sporting-goods-store/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm all for getting a good deal, whether that is online or not, but some of what is said in that pos...

Re: Question for people who have measured their rev rate...

Agreed, 1280x720 at 60p fps is perfectly fine. I still think more important than doing 60fps is having control over your shutter speed. Having both would be a bonus. :)

Re: Question for people who have measured their rev rate...

Looked through the manual real quick, it doesn't appear to have any manual shutter controls. Also when looking at frame rates, you want to go by the progressive (p) frame rate, not interlaced (i). That camera shoots full HD at 60i fps, which is 60 interlaced frames and not as good as 60p fps. The ca...

Re: Question for people who have measured their rev rate...

I highly recommend a camera that shoots HD (pretty much a given anymore, but mentioning it just to be sure) and has at least shutter priority mode, which allows you to set the shutter speed and the camera will set everything else for the exposure. The video I posted was shot with a Canon HV30 which ...

Re: Question for people who have measured their rev rate...

I'm guessing you were watching Justin's video? I will address that later as I already typed out all this other stuff before realizing it wasn't my videos on the Wiki you were referring to. At 60fps you will capture more of the action, so you will be able to see more of the quick, subtle movements th...

Nice carp!

And congrats Eric for a great forum! My other life has kept me really busy so I haven't been as active lately, but I still check in daily to see what's going on. I still try to post when I can but also am glad there are now many others who surpass my knowledge who are around to help.
