Re: Trying to avoid over/under on THS by playing dry.....HEL

I bowl on a very similar condition. I've had a lot of success weak layouts on weak/medium covers and a lot of surface. I have a Slingshot drilled like 100 / 1 / 90, hole on pin. That ball allows me to square up, looking at around 5,6,7 at the arrows and throw it as hard as I can in to the friction, ...

Re: ball tilt

Using plastic to find the PAP for a flaring ball will not be accurate. The PAP will be different. Possibly wildly different. I did an experiment of sorts 3-4 years ago to show this phenomenon after Mo had brought it up. I believe the video is posted on these forums somewhere. I was surprised how muc...

Re: ball tilt

Case in point of some professional bowlers. Sean Rash doesn't have that much tilt and rolls it heavy yet he has a medium track. Mike Fagan on the other hand has little tilt yet has a spinners axis point and a low track. Although not uncommon I've yet to see a bowler who has 20+ degrees of axis tilt...

Re: To mr.Mo and others - Ball track in blueprint - low tilt

Track flare, by nature, will overlap somewhat. The fact that you're throwing a sphere guarantees that. As for carry down, there isn't as much carry down these days with high flaring equipment compared to the days of early urethane. I don't believe the Motion Hole is recommended for Asym balls. And t...

Re: Skid-flip vs. quick response time to friction?

Good to see you back Kelly, and the Kiwis are looking good in the cricket world cup. Thanks, Dean! I'm gonna try to be a little more active here. Might not work out as much as I would like, but I'll try :) Random fact - Kane Williamson's twin brother was the setter on my club Volleyball team the ye...

Re: Skid-flip vs. quick response time to friction?

A quick response time to friction is just that, the ball will rev up and change direction as soon as it encounters friction, which isn't ideal on a THS for example as it will do this with friction on the o/s of the pattern and /or the end of the pattern. And this may not hook much either; it could ...

Re: Dual angle: Same ratio-diff total vs. same total-diff ra

It's been a little while since I've had the time to check these forums and respond, but let me take a swing at this. Maybe knock of some rust :) Either approach could work, depending on the surfaces and condition. Using the same ratio/different total approach, you will get a similar "look" after you...

Re: usbc rule change regarding no-thumbers

flip_example_Dagger.jpg artificial_PSA.jpg That second picture is exactly what I'm most concerned about. The rule effectively strips the use of true balance holes away from two hander on symmetrical equipment, which I suspect many will gravitate toward due to the control they afford. My thoughts ar...

Re: usbc rule change regarding no-thumbers

I've always had reservations about the center of grip moving, because if a no thumber suddenly decides to add a thumb, the center of grip shifts, changing the point of reference for the layout as well! I've always liked the idea of using a thumb for no thumbers for that reason alone - consistency ac...

Re: Are we in The Matrix? Sport Bowling vs. THS

I understand completely what you're saying, Greg. I think the point I was trying to make, which kind of ties in to the management thing you mentioned, was there are serious options for serious bowlers in most towns. It's either bowl the house league, or travel and pay fairly steep entry fees to bowl...

Re: Are we in The Matrix? Sport Bowling vs. THS

I'm a little late to this party, but I very much like the direction this thread has taken. A lot of the early discussion centered around technology and "old vs new" which is never going to be productive and is quite possibly one of the most frustrating arguments that lingers to this day. There are t...

Re: Slow Internet Connection

It's actually the overhead of loading up the Moodle Core with every request. One of the drawbacks of PHP, I'm afraid. Moodle loads a LOT of classes every request. Just the nature of the beast.

Nice job, man! That ball looks sooooo sweet! Aesthetically speaking of course. I've not seen it on the lanes yet.

Thanks all! Things are slowly starting to become more automatic. It's only taken 4 years! LOL! I finally have a spare game to speak of! Still miss more easy spares than I should, but nowhere near as many as I used to! I'm around 85% on 10 pins and around 75-80% on single pins as a whole. MUCH better...

800 #2 courtesy of Morich!

Last night during my regular fall league I had what I can only describe as the single best night I've ever had on the lanes! 277, 262, 279 for 818!!! Unlike the first 800, this didn't have a single brooklyn and only a couple of late trips. Of the 28 strikes, only 24 of them were dead flush in the po...

That's the way the wiki-fit should feel. The fit should emphasize the majority of the weight at the base of the index finger. Sounds like everything is fine, according to what the wiki-fit is trying to encourage.

As someone learning the ropes of coaching, I was given the opportunity to help coach a clinic put on by Rick Hitt in Newport, KY last summer. I had previously received some coaching from Mo Pinel and Rick Hitt and I had the privilege of watching Jim Merrell as he coached a good friend of mine just a...

Looks like it's been pulled. They have been off the books for about a year now, I believe. It makes sense that their domain has been pulled by now.
